BSS has a long-term commitment to supporting Mind and SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health), the leading mental health charities in the UK. With mental health problems affecting one in four people every year, hundreds of thousands are struggling to cope.
Both Mind and SAMH provide much-needed support and advice as well as raising awareness of mental health problems and campaigning for better services. Read more about Mind and SAMH and the life-changing work they do.
We have an ambitious fundraising programme of charity events and activities to support the work of our mental health charities. Some of these have been developed by the BSS business including the Mind truck with its distinctive livery to raise awareness and social charity events for customers, suppliers and staff to raise funds. Others involve our people ‘doing it for charity’ – whether that’s cycling an epic challenge, skydiving or running a tuck shop. All that matters is that we make a real difference to the lives of people affected by mental health problems.
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in any given year. Mind work to ensure anyone living with a mental health problem gets the advice and support they need, when they need it. Last year, Local Mind’s supported around 375,000 people in England and Wales. Sister charities SAMH and Niamh provide support in Scotland and Northern Ireland respectively.
